1-1. Different Ways of Visualizing

Many people believe that visualization means creating clear mental images.

However, in Aruha Meditation, visualization is much broader than that.

What truly matters is not the ability to see vivid pictures, but the ability to create a single object within your awareness.

■ Everyone Experiences Visualization Differently

People perceive the world in different ways.

Some naturally think in images.

Others experience an object through sensation, weight, temperature, sound, spatial awareness, language, or simply a sense of presence.

These are not better or worse ways of perceiving.

They are simply different.

🔴 Important

If clear mental images do not appear, there is no need to worry.

Aruha Meditation is designed with these natural differences in mind.

The goal is not to create perfect images.

The goal is to create a clear object within your awareness using the way that feels most natural to you.

■ An Example

Imagine a lemon.

Some people immediately see a bright yellow lemon.

Others first notice its sour taste.

Some sense its weight or cool surface.

Others simply recognize that the lemon is present without seeing any image at all.

Although the experience is different, everyone is creating the same object within awareness.

■ What Matters Most

It does not matter where you begin.

Whether through images, sensations, space, sound, language, or a sense of presence, any approach is equally valid.

The ability to consciously create an object within your awareness becomes the foundation for every stage that follows:
